2024 N. Albany is a new 2-story with basement, 3,500 sf single-family home seeking Chicago Green Homes certification. This a project designed by an architect as his own family residence - it's not unusual for designers to use their own homes for some experimentation, so it only follows that we're seeing more architects incorporating green in their personal projects. Although the home is on the larger side for floor area, it includes accommodations for live-in extended family, making the size more reasonable.

Both phases are seeking Chicago Green Homes certification.

ICG, a general contractor specializing in commercial interiors, is relocating their offices to the 13th floor of 210 S. Clark. This relatively small project (8,000 sf) is seeking LEED-CI Gold certification and presents some unusual opportunities because it is actually in the same building as the company's current offices. It's a great demonstration that you don't have to be a huge company (like Exelon) or always go all-out (like Exelon) in order to think green on something as seemingly routine as a commercial office. Our construction photo shows an often-overlooked indoor air quality construction process detail - protection of open ends of ductwork being installed.

4227 S. St. Lawrence is a just-completed home from a new entry on Chicago's green development scene, Om Development. The project is a gut rehab of an 1890's Bronzeville multifamily back into a single-family home. There's not a lot of green bling here, just solid energy-efficiency (exceeding Energy Star requirements by 90%), leading the project to pursue a Chicago Green Homes three-star certification. The home will also be featured in an upcoming USGBC trolley tour.
